Graduating in 1987 from the same schooland at the same time as her husband Panas Tytenko, there are deep affinities between the styles of these two painters of the Kyiv Art Academy. Also influential on Olena was her father Mykola Yakovenko who was schooled in realism and a renowned Georgian artist.
