Born 1912, Varvarovka, near Kharkiv

After his family moved to Lgov near Kursk in Russia, Evgeniy Volobuev began studying at Arminov's studio before entering the Kharkov College of Art, followed by the Kyiv Institute of Art. The artist continues to live and work in Kyiv.

Volobuev's work appeared as part of an exhibition of Ukrainian oil paintings, tapestries and sculpture at the Menier Gallery, London in February 2002 and his work was also shown at the Ukrainian Art Through American Eyes show at the Ukrainian Institute of Art in New York from 27 February 27- April 25 2004.
