Born Dnipropetrovsk 1923The oil paintings of this well-known artist and graduate of Dnipropetrovsk Art College are close to the techniques and themes of traditional Socialist Realism. However, his depictions of the construction of a blast furnace or of ship repair works bear a genuine and powerful romantic spirit. They impress us with a fantastic, almost cosmic scale of a master's recollection of events. Shusterman's paintings, alongside the work of Shyshko and Kudryavtzev, add to the comprehensive panorama of Ukrainian post-war art. Shusterman's work has been exhibited since 1960 and can be found in private collections in Israel, Germany, France, USA and UK. |
